Blogging Rules
So here’s the BLOGGING RULES for the 6th Grade Blogging Project 2005-2006
The Golden Rule in Blogging: “cause no harm.”
- Write postitively about appropriate things.
- Light debating and discussion (better) is fine.
- We will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. The administration and teacher’s decision is final in these matters.
- Write about topics — not people.
- Use proper grammar and spelling when writing.
- Do not post personal information
- Stick to the topic of the post you are writing about.
- When you comment on a blog, comment about the subject and not about the owner of the blog or other people.
- Be respectful in posting and/or commenting.
- No posting meaningless threads such as one word or short non-sense posts.
- No repeated posting of a certain topic.
- Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed.
- No posts that are offensive in nature or violate St. John’s School Internet Acceptable Use Policy.
- These rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything.
- There are enough bad blogs or on the internet — too many, in fact — let’s do something different.
Consequences:
For those who disrespect their own or other people’s blogs — in general, breaking the Golden Rule:
- First Offense: you will be banned from blogging for three school days and receive one demerit. You will also be sent to administration for a talk.
- Second Offense: you will be banned from blogging for six school days and receive one demerit. You will also be sent to administration for a talk.
- Third Offense: you will be banned from blogging for ten school days and receive one demerit. You will also be sent to administration for a talk.
