Blog Activity #30
February 28th, 2006 by stjohnsEveryone will create another blog account with LearnerBlogs.org. You will use this account more as a web site than as a blog. Once your new account has been created, you will stick to only one theme for now as you learn how to use WordPress to make your own web sites.
- Create a new blog – Visit Guam
- Create new pages based on www.visitguam.com
- Copy content from www.visitguam.com — make sure to write the following at the bottom of each page of content that you copy: “The contents of this page were copied from www.visitguam.com”
- Keep in mind that were are copying only to speed up your web site creation practice using WordPress.
- In a real-world situation, you should NOT be copying from web sites. You can do your research and collet information from web sites, but you should create your own original content. If you do need to copy text for some reason, then you should always create a link back to the site of the original content.
- You can link images into your pages for aesthetic purposes.
I will check your progress during class. You can also work on this at home.

Mr. Maiquez,
Your note number 5 is quite timely. I really stress the same point with my students.
I teach 6th grade world cultures and geography in Connecticut and we also have a student weblog, on learnerblogs, quite similar to yours.
One of your students, Pheobe, left a nice comment on our class blog, and one of my students has since commented on her comment.
If you and your class would like to comment on our student posts, please feel welcome. I moderate all posts and comments, and as long as they are appropriate and written in conversational english or better, I publish them. Both classes appear to have similar interests and abilities, so interaction might benefit both learning communities.
