Everyone will create another blog account with LearnerBlogs.org. You will use this account more as a web site than as a blog. Once your new account has been created, you will stick to only one theme for now as you learn how to use WordPress to make your own web sites.
- Create a new blog – Visit Guam
- Create new pages based on www.visitguam.com
- Copy content from www.visitguam.com — make sure to write the following at the bottom of each page of content that you copy: “The contents of this page were copied from www.visitguam.com”
- Keep in mind that were are copying only to speed up your web site creation practice using WordPress.
- In a real-world situation, you should NOT be copying from web sites. You can do your research and collet information from web sites, but you should create your own original content. If you do need to copy text for some reason, then you should always create a link back to the site of the original content.
- You can link images into your pages for aesthetic purposes.
I will check your progress during class. You can also work on this at home.

Our photo blogging project continues on. When it’s your turn, pick up the camera from the L.S. comp lab. The list of 15 items is in the camera bag to guide you on what subject matter you need to take pictures of. Good luck!

The issue on the very bad posts and disrespect of other blogs has recently been resolved. Thus, as I said in the earlier post, the 6th grade blogging project (05-06) will resume its original course beginning today.
Your blogging post for today will be about this experience. *REMEMBER* — do NOT write about people — just topics. Here are a few guide questions:
- How did you feel when Mrs. Naz and Mr. Maiquez started talking about some students breaking the class’ Golden Rule in blogging?
- If you are tempted or challenged by a friend to test the system and write bad comments on a post — what would you do? Why?
- What would you do to ensure that your fellow classmates do not write bad comments on blog posts?
Blogging is an expression of yourself. What comes out on a post or comment reflects what’s within you.
This experience should not stop you from blogging, rather it should make you more aware of the responsibility that lies within you — that words — whether written on paper, emailed to someone, or comments left on a post — can be damaging, and ultimately will hurt someone — perhaps including yourself. Be responsible with your blogging and you will avoid situations that will put you in trouble.

There is a student (or students) who has been disrespecting our blogs and blogs of other schools. Since this student (or students) has broken our Golden Rule on blogging — cause no harm — then we will STOP the blogging project until this issue is resolved.
We will still have computer class, but we will no longer use the blogging system. All blogs will be closed until this issue is resolved.
This is a sad day for 6th grade blogging — one that I hoped teaching you in class about blogging etiquette would have avoided.

In your science class, you will all soon study about energy — both natural and manmade.
- Post an entry on methods of energy conservation and the importance of doing this.
- Or you can post entries about thermal energy, magnetism and electricity, chemical and nuclear energy.
- Or you can post entries about inventing some new energy sources
- Or you can post some ideas for creating/developing new energy resources for Guam
Enjoy! :0

- Post new entries on your blogs about what you’re doing and learning about in your classes — English, Science, Math, Social Studies, special subjects, etc.
- Visit your classmates’ blogs and comment on their entries.
- Visit your teacehrs’ blogs and also comment on their entries.

For those who have been taking pictures for blog activity #26, I will work with you during our class so that you can start classying the pictures you need / don’t need for our SplashBlog. You will be working on a PALM handhled computer for this activity. I will show you one by one how to use SplashBlog on the PALM handheld. It’s a fun program to use and even more fun to really understand. Keep blogging!

We will start with our experiment on SplashBlog. Below is a list of 15 words. The student assigned to take pictures for the day will go along with their regular school day and take 15 pictures related to each word on the list. Take pictures of people (groups, events, candids … ) and objects.
Pick up the camera from the L.S. Lab in the morning of your turn. After all pictures are taken at the end of the day, return the camera to me. Also leave the camera with me (or with Mrs. Naz) during P.E.
Here’s our word list (this project was inspired by a web project called “26 things”):
- smooth
- eject
- compress
- confused
- funny
- precious
- simple
- swift
- lethargic
- empty
- awesome
- pensive
- organized
- messy
- inspiring
Okay … we’ll see how this goes!
